To facilitate the smooth onboarding and initial assessment of new Motion Graphic Artists to ensure adequate performance in their roles.

Introduction:

Welcome to the team! This internal knowledge base article outlines a structured two-week induction program designed for new Motion Graphic Artists  (MGAs). The primary goal of this program is to provide new team joiners with the necessary knowledge, tools, and resources to excel in their roles and to enable performance evaluation at the end of the onboarding period.

 

Week 1: Orientation and Fundamentals

Day 1-2: Welcome and Introduction

 

Introduction to company policies and procedures.

Understanding team structure.

Overview of ongoing projects and key initiatives



Day 3-4: Overview to the Design Department

Introduction to the design team

Understanding the overview of team responsibilities and projects.

Familiarising with the design software and tools required.

 

Day 5-6: Project Lifecycle and initiation

Case study of past project designs according to project requirements

Implementing the company's design process, from project initiation to completion.

Understanding the client's expectations.

 

Week 2 Hands-on Project Training and Execution

Day 7- 8: Project Collaboration

Assigning the mock projects to practice

Analysis of how to interpret and work with creative briefs.

Understanding the importance of feedback in the design process.

Implementation of constructive feedback

 

Day 9- 10: Feedback and Review

Cover the basics of typography and its impact on design.

Understanding colour theory and its application in design.

Receiving input from senior design artists to align in the process

 

Day 11-12: Performance Evaluation and Enclosure

Working individually on a client project

Discussing the project's strengths and areas for improvement.

Review the two-week induction program.

 

Conclusion:

Throughout the two weeks, the new graphic designer has regular check-ins with their supervisor or mentor for guidance and support. Encouraging open communication and a collaborative atmosphere to help them integrate smoothly into the team. They will be exposed to a clear understanding of their responsibilities and hands-on experience directly managing projects and tools. This also facilitates a thorough assessment of their initial performance readiness to work and ensures a smooth transition in their role independently.
