How you can create Chatflow for Facebook Messenger

Connecting your Facebook Messenger account to HubSpot will create and enable a default instant reply chatflow in your account. This instant reply chatflow is the primary chatflow used on your Facebook Messenger page. Apart from the primary chatflow, additional chatflows with an instant reply or chatflows with a bot using the direct URLs for these chatflows in your content.

To customize the default Facebook Messenger chatflow

  • Go to Conversations > Chatflows in your HubSpot account.
  • Click the Facebook Messenger tab.
  • Hover over the chatflow name and click Edit.
  • On the Build tab, you can customize the instant reply message and routing rules.
  • Click Save.
  • On the Options tab, click Copy to copy the direct link to your Messenger account. You can add this URL to your CTAs, emails, and website.

Create additional Facebook Messenger chatflows

To create additional Facebook Messenger chatflows:

  • Go to Conversations > Chatflows, in your HubSpot account.
  • Click Create chatflow in the upper right.
  • Select Facebook Messenger.
  • You can create a chatflow with an instant reply or a chatflow with a bot. Select the type of chatflow you want to creating, click Next.

For creating Instant Reply Text Box

  • On the Build tab, customize the message in the Write an instant reply text box. Click the dropdown Assign incoming conversations to to assign whom incoming messages should be routed to.
  • Click the dropdown Select a language to select bot's display language. 
  • On the Options tab, click Copy to copy the direct link to your Messenger account. You can add this URL to your CTAs, emails, and website.
  • Click View in Facebook Messenger to preview your chatflow in Facebook Messenger.
  • Click to toggle the switch on to enable the chatflow. 

For creating a Bot

  • On the Build tab, Click the Instant reply action and edit the message in the right panel. You can also edit and add actions to the bot's flow.
  • On the Options tab:
    • Click the dropdown Typing delay between messages and select an option to set a delay between each message that is sent to visitors.
    • Click the dropdown Session timeout select an option to customize the amount of time after inactivity before the chat session is reset to the beginning.
    • In the Generic error message text box, enter the message to display when a request can't be delivered 
  • Click the dropdown Select a language to select bot's display language. 
  • Click Copy next to the Facebook Messenger URL to copy the direct link to your Messenger account. You can add this URL to your CTAs, emails, and website.
  • Click View in Facebook Messenger to preview your chatflow in Facebook Messenger.
  • Click to toggle the switch on to enable the chatflow.

The new chatflow will now appear on the Messenger tab of the chatflows tool. If you add the Messenger URL to your content, when a contact clicks the URL, they'll be brought directly to Messenger where they can start a conversation with your team.
